Quick Summary: GoDaddy Review

When it comes to domain name registration, Godaddy is more than just a registrar—it is the registrar. While several people are aware of its denomination status in this country, just a few are aware that it is also an excellent hosting provider. Given the importance of selecting the right hosting service when building a solid website/blog, we made a decision to break down GoDaddy’s hosting feature set and compare it to its rivals to help you make the right decision.

General Info & Overview

GoDaddy began in 1997, when founder Bob Parsons made a decision to establish a business. The name he wanted was “Big Daddy,” but the domain name was already taken by someone else, so he went with GoDaddy instead. This company’s fate as one of the top in the domain industry was sealed by its contract with the National Science Foundation, which consolidated GoDaddy as the sole domain registrar until 1998, when the establishment of ICANN permitted for competition. GoDaddy was the largest domain name registrar by 2004 and has remained so ever since.

GoDaddy vs. The Other Best Web Hosting Services

GoDaddy is globally recognized for its website domain registrar services, but this post is about GoDaddy for web hosting related services. However it is not the very popular web hosting company out there, still it is a brand name that people know and believe, so we think it’s worth reviewing and considering for your website, blog or online store.

If you want to get a website up and running quickly and easily, GoDaddy could be the solution. Though its web hosting and WordPress hosting plans are reasonably priced, there are many other hosting companies that are less expensive.

That is the reason it is important to understand that GoDaddy is just one of many web hosting providers. In fact, we took the time to research, compare, and analyze many other web hosts in order to find the best ones and share all of the goods and bads with you.

While GoDaddy did not get the top place in our list of the best web hosting providers, it does have some advantages that may be ideal for your specific requirements. Because, when it comes to websites and hosting, one thing is certain: everyone has different wants and needs.

See all of our top picks for more information on the web hosting providers we recommend.

The Pros and the Cons of GoDaddy

Since nobody lives in a perfect world, few good come with the bad. This is true for GoDaddy as well as other web hosting companies. The vital thing is to find a provider whose benefits outweigh the drawbacks for you.

To help you decide if GoDaddy is right for you, here are some of our favourite features and some to avoid.

The Pros

One-Click Applications Install: By option GoDaddy hosting, you don’t have to waste time installing a slew of applications on your website. They provide 1-click installation for a variety of apps, including WordPress, Joomla, Magento etc. This is ideal for those who are new to website development but want to experiment with web design on their own. It’s also suitable for those who want to get a site up and running as soon as possible but don’t have the time or desire to fuss with application setup.

Simple to Use: GoDaddy is an excellent option for those new to the world of websites. The GoDaddy website builder does all of the work for you and permits you to simply choose how you want your website to look by selecting from a broad range of free templates.

The only disadvantage of the ease of use is that you do not have as much creative freedom as you do with other service providers. However, in case you are new to website creation and do not wish to invest more time and effort into building something complex, the ease of use of GoDaddy will be especially beneficial to you.

Customer Service That is Responsive: Getting someone at your service through the phone to help you is not as easy as it once was. Everything appears to be automated, and you are constantly routed through bots until you lose calmness and hang up the call. With GoDaddy, this is not the case. Though they do use chat bots, they also offer telephone and web chat support available 24/7. When you call in, it does not take 15-20 minutes to reach a live person. In reality, users have reported that speaking with a live person on the phone usually takes less than 2 minutes. That is unprecedented.

The same thing occurs when you decide you would rather get on the chat instead. You may discover that the representatives are busy at first, but wait a few minutes and someone will assist you.

Fast Loading Time: Loading time of a website is very important, because your website will not do well if it will not load fast. Because, let’s face it, no one wishes to wait for a website to load. It’s 2024, and we wish things to happen right now. Fortunately, GoDaddy’s load time is an average of 180 ms, indicating that they are quite fast.

Multiple Data Centers around the world: The greater the number of data centers a web host has, the faster its speeds can be. GoDaddy owns three data centers in Europe, the United States, and Asia, resulting in fast load speeds that cover the majority of the world.

However, there are still few locations further away from the data centers that cause the speed to dip slightly, but they are planning to open new data centre in India, which may help to eliminate the low outlier numbers.

Freebies: Whoever said there’s no such thing as a free breakfast or dinner clearly hasn’t used GoDaddy’s website hosting service. When you buy a shared hosting service, you get a domain name, along with MS Office 365, more than 125 applications, and more for free.

The Cons

Basic Plan with Limited Features: GoDaddy’s Basic plan is limited to just basic features. It does not include anything that will impress you, nor does it include many special features and extras. It is a good starting point for potentially scaling your web page or blog, but it does not offer anything that rivals do not. And it isn’t as cheap as many other basic web hosting plans offered by providers like Hostinger.

Packed With Upsells: While some freebies are included in the web hosting plans, it’s the upsells that get you. Several features are available when you use GoDaddy service for your hosting, but the majority of them come at an extra price.

High Renewal Charges: Though this is same with almost all hosting providers, GoDaddy appears to be one of the worst when comparing introductory prices to prices after the first year.

GoDaddy Plans, Pricing and Features

Godaddy, similar to other web hosts, offers a variety of plans to meet a variety of needs. And, as certain to happen, the lower-level hosting plans restrict what you can do with your hosting account, but are also accessible at a low price and serve as an amazing place to get started.

GoDaddy Shared Hosting

The shared plans are perfect for small websites and newly launched websites/blogs. They are a great value because you are sharing server power with other sites.
As a result, it is not as powerful as other hosting types. However, it is an affordable alternative for personal websites/blogs, and even small business websites with a few pages.

Here’s an in-depth look at GoDaddy’s shared hosting plans:

Starter: Beginners who are just getting started with website development should opt for the starter plan. It supports a single site and comes with a free SSL, free email, and 30GB of web storage. It’s an incredible value for new websites, starting at Rs.99.51/month with an annual contract.

Economy: The economy plan is designed for beginners who require more space. It includes everything in the starter plan, but it also includes Free Professional Email for 1 year—all for just Rs.219/month.

Deluxe: The Deluxe plan, which starts at Rs.299/month, is intended for high-traffic websites. Increased processing power, support for unlimited sites, unlimited storage, plus a free domain also included.

Ultimate: The Ultimate hosting plan is the most expensive option on GoDaddy’s shared hosting. This plan, which starts at Rs.499/month, is designed for websites that require high-quality photos and videos. There’s plenty of room for expansion with support for unlimited sites, unlimited GB of storage, and unlimited databases.

GoDaddy WordPress Hosting

WordPress may be your best friend if you are new to website creation. It is going to make hosting and creating your website much easier and more efficient. To use WordPress, you do not need to learn any coding, though you can if you want to further modify your website. There are 4 packages available with different features ranging from Rs.299/month to Rs.1499/month. All 4 WordPress hosting packages allow you to host just 1 website. In case you wish to host multiple WordPress websites, the GoDaddy Pro WordPress hosting is worth exploring.

VPS Hosting

A website hosted on VPS will have much faster speeds and performance because there are servers dedicated to your website and your website only. As a result, if you want a faster website that generally runs better, VPS (virtual private server) hosting may be the perfect choice for you.

The more memory and web space you get as you progress through each VPS hosting plan. The plan ranges from Rs. 449 per month to Rs. 5299 per month.

Dedicated Server Hosting

Though this sort of web hosting is the most expensive, it also provides the most power, more security and enhanced control. In case you have a small website or are new to website development, you do not need to spend this much money on hosting. This is for you if you have a larger website that requires server control and flexibility.

Dedicated server hosting is ideal for those who have traffic volumes that exceed the VPS plan limits. The plan ranges from Rs. 9519 per month to Rs. 28559 per month.

Best alternatives to GoDaddy Hosting

While Godaddy is excellent, you may be looking for something contrary – something less expensive, more fast, or something with more features.

In that situation, I have created a list of the service providers to choose from. Hostinger will be a less expensive option, A2 Hosting will be faster and contain more features, and Bluehost will be the ideal middle ground from the price and security point of view.

  • Hostinger – Best web host for most websites
  • Bluehost – Best drag-and-drop site builder for WordPress users
  • A2 Hosting – Most reliable web hosting for European and Asian users.
  • GreenGeeks – Best eco-friendly Green web hosting.
  • FastComet – Best host for keeping uptime above 99.99% .
  • inMotion – Best host for hosting 2 websites on one plan.
  • HostPapa –Best Hosting for Small Businesses.

It’s likely that the hosting plans of Godaddy will work for you, but others may work perfectly. Because the service does not provide as many features as other top hosts offer, you may not get the same kind of satisfaction and value that you could get elsewhere on our list of the best web hosting services.

GoDaddy Review: Should You Use It?

Overall, I believe GoDaddy provides a solid product and services for hosting small websites/blogs. I loved:

  • Their fair speed
  • Along with traditional Linux hosting, they do provide Windows powered hosting services, which only few providers do.
  • Their user-friendly and intuitive interface
  • Their limitless bandwidth and ample storage space

It does, however, have a couple of unnoticed drawbacks that you should be aware of. Some basic features, such as SSL and backups, are not included in their already so expensive plans, so GoDaddy hosting ends up being expensive.

Innovative features such as staging areas are also lacking, as are migration services for new accounts. For developers and agencies, this could be a deal breaker. Unfortunately, this provider’s poor uptime record makes it unsuitable for bigger sites.

I hope you found this GoDaddy hosting review useful. But in case you have any queries, please write a comment and I’ll do my best to answer them.
